Fabric weight

Léger

Mid-weight (240 GSM)

Poids lourds

GSM (grams per square meter) measures fabric density. At 240 GSM, our merino wool offers high quality and durability while retaining the breathability and thermoregulating properties that merino is known for.

Neither too light nor too thick, it will accompany you just as well on an autumn hike, a day at the office, or a winter outing as a base layer for layering.

Light enough to be worn during active pursuits like hiking, running, or skiing, it is also dense enough to provide significant comfort on colder days.

A versatile weight, designed to keep up with you all year round.

Fabric composition

Merino wool

100%

We exclusively use 100% natural, mulesing-free Australian merino wool, sourced from farms that prioritize animal welfare. Woolmark and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, it meets the highest standards of quality and textile safety. Unlike many technical garments that blend wool with synthetic fibers, we have chosen a 100% merino wool composition to preserve the integrity of the fiber and all its natural benefits: thermoregulation, breathability, moisture management, exceptional softness, and odor resistance.

Our fabric is knitted in interlock, a construction known for its softness, stability, and durability. Unlike classic jersey, interlock is denser, more opaque, and retains its shape better over time.

Advantages

  • More durable
  • More opaque
  • Softer
  • Does not stretch out of shape
  • Good drape

Good news: thanks to the natural properties of merino wool, you generally don't need to wash your garment after every use.

Our merino wool fabric is machine washable, making it easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

Our fabric uses Superwash treated merino wool, which allows it to retain the natural properties of merino while significantly reducing the risk of shrinkage during washing.

To extend the life of your garment, we recommend:

  • Machine wash in cold or lukewarm water;
  • Delicate cycle;
  • Mild wool detergent recommended;
  • Lay flat to dry (wool dries quickly);
  • Do not use fabric softener or bleach;
  • Ideally wash alone or in a mesh bag for delicate laundry;
  • Avoid contact with zippers, velcro, or other items that could damage the wool during washing.

Thanks to the natural properties of merino, it is often sufficient to air out the garment between uses. This helps reduce the frequency of washing, preserve the fibers, and extend the life of the garment.

Less washing, less maintenance, more time to live and explore. 😊

Merino wool is a natural fiber that comes from Merino sheep, renowned for producing exceptionally soft and high-performance wool.

Unlike traditional wool, Merino fibers are much finer, making them comfortable and soft against the skin.

Naturally breathable, thermoregulating, and odor-resistant, Merino wool is appreciated for both outdoor activities and everyday wear.

At Périple, we use 100% natural Australian Merino wool, certified Woolmark® and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, sourced from cruelty-free farms.

Yes. Even if it's not intuitive to wear wool in summer, merino wool is very pleasant in hot weather.

Its fibers naturally regulate body temperature by breathing, wicking away moisture and excess heat. It thus helps maintain a feeling of comfort during hot days or physical activities.

That's why merino is worn all over the world, for summer hiking as well as for travel, running or everyday life.

No. Merino wool helps manage the moisture produced by the body.

Its fibers can absorb some of the moisture as vapor while still feeling comfortable against the skin. It also helps wick moisture away from the garment, which helps limit the feeling of being wet.

The result: a garment that remains comfortable during temperature changes and physical exertion.

Polyester is a synthetic fiber derived from petroleum, while merino wool is a renewable natural fiber.

Merino stands out for its ability to regulate temperature, naturally resist odors, and offer great comfort over long periods of wear.

Polyester dries quickly and is often used in sportswear, but it tends to retain odors more over time.

Both materials have their advantages, but many people prefer merino for its natural comfort, versatility, and odor resistance.
